SUMMARY

Supervises and coordinates activities of production associates by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines. 
  • Studies production schedules and estimates associate hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Administers company policies and safety regulations to associates.
  • Administers specifications, blueprints, and job orders to associates, and assigns duties.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists associates in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate associates to achieve work goals.
  • Evaluates hourly employees on performance on annual and new hire reviews. 
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials.
  • Evaluates and recommends training and disciplinary actions for hourly associates. 
  • Confers with other coordinators to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Must be able to work overtime. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises up to 100 employees in the Production Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma/GED with seven plus years supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment OR Associates Degree (A.A.) with five plus years of manufacturing experience OR Bachelor’s Degree with up to 1 year manufacturing experience. Must have a minimum of one year of prior supervisory experience if you possess a degree.

 LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
