Lutheran Hospital’s operating room consists of eight operating room suites and one dedicated cystoscopy suite. Offering sophisticated technology and advanced medical care in an intimate and friendly environment, our surgical volume is composed primarily of orthopedics, including spine, total joint, and sports procedures. Other services provided include general surgery, podiatry, urology, and more.Â
A caregiver in this position works varying shifts from 7:00AM – 3:30PM or 9:00AM—5:30PM.Â
A caregiver who excels in this role will:Â Â
Deliver professional nursing care in an operative setting to adult and pediatric patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures. Â
Perform scrub functions, such as selecting and handling instruments and supplies.Â
Perform circulating functions, such as monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing the overall nursing care of patients before, during and after the procedure. Â
Assist the operating physician with surgical tasks, such as hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure and patient positioning. Â
Prepare the Operating Room, surgical instruments and surgical equipment for use. Â
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Â Â
Graduate of an accredited school of Professional NursingÂ
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) Â
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)Â
Two years of operating room experience Â

Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
