Compensation is based on total years of experience in previous roles.

The contracted Music Therapist is responsible for completing up to 36 visits per month. Compensation is provided on a per-visit basis. Visits are self-scheduled and conducted during regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)

In this role, you’ll care for patients in the Stillwater Hospice Service area, including Grant, Wabash, Whitley, Huntington, Kosciusko, Noble, and Allen counties

You will work in a Non-Clinical, Home-Based, as-needed (PRN) basis.

POSITION TITLE: MUSIC THERAPIST

FLSA STATUS: HOURLY / NON-EXEMPT

REPORTS TO: Therapeutic Programs Coordinator

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

  • Uses Music Therapy to assist the patient and/or family to ease discomfort, anxiety, and other symptoms (at end of life).

QUALIFICATIONS::

  • Board-certified Music Therapist
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy or equivalency
  • Must have an Indiana Motor Vehicle Operator’s license and have access to an automobile with current automobile insurance coverage
  • Effective Interpersonal Counseling Skills
  • Proficient in one or more accompaniment instruments
  • Proficient in using music therapy techniques to assist the patient and family with:
    • Pain, discomfort
    • Expression of feelings
    • Anxiety, restlessness, depression
    • Difficulty sleeping, insomnia
    • Isolation, lack of support system
    • Dementia and confusion
    • Spiritual support
    • Anticipatory Grief
  • Knowledge of different musical styles and diverse genres. Includes a working familiarity with music from various religions, cultures, and ethnic groups.
  • Ability to create a safe, comfortable environment and a mode of expression through music.
  • Experience with patients with life-limiting / terminal illness is preferred.

Essential Functions

  • Provide direct service to hospice patients and their families in their home environment
  • Assist in Stillwater Hospice memorial services and events, as requested.
  • Conduct assessments and provide interventions that meet individual needs
  • Assures that necessary documentation is completed promptly and in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Adheres to all Stillwater Hospice policies and privacy practices. Implements agency policies in all work-related situations.

The published compensation range for this position reflects a good-faith estimate of starting base pay for full-time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The base pay may be higher or lower based on demonstrated job-related experience.
