Position Summary

The City of Fort Wayne is hiring a seasonal Maintenance Seasonal – Botanical Conservatory Facility team member to support safe, clean, and well-prepared public spaces at the Botanical Conservatory. This entry-level, onsite role helps keep facilities and grounds ready for daily visitors and scheduled activities.

Key responsibilities include routine cleaning and light upkeep of interior/exterior areas; assisting with room and equipment set-up for events; handling basic material movement and disposal; operating assigned tools safely; completing tasks as directed and documenting completed work when requested.

Required qualifications:
- At least 18 years of age and completion of three years of high school
- Any combination of related work experience (e.g., cleaning, catering, equipment set-up)
- Valid Indiana Driver’s License

A Typical Shift

You’ll arrive mid-morning, review the day’s priorities with full-time staff, and then move through the Conservatory and surrounding areas in a steady, organized rhythm. The work is hands-on and varied—switching between indoor spaces and outdoor paths as needs change. You may prepare areas ahead of public hours, respond to timely requests that keep the facility running smoothly, and finish by confirming spaces are ready for the next day. Throughout the shift, you’ll pace your work to the 8:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. window (Sun.–Thurs., with occasional schedule changes), using good judgment and initiative while following established methods and safety expectations.
