Job Summary:

Supplier Quality Engineer II drives customer satisfaction and continual improvement in accomplishing ESA’s strategic plan through monitoring, managing and resolving issues related to supplier quality performance by developing Supplier relationships, auditing Supplier’s capabilities, capacities, products, processes and procedures, handling the disposition of Supplier rejections, and coordinating Supplier corrective actions.

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Conduct Source Inspections, Incoming Receiving Inspections, and Material Surveys to ensure internal and external customers quality and technical requirements are adhered to by Suppliers
  • Review Supplier First Article Inspections (FAI’s) IAW AS9102
  • Assign, monitor and close Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR's) while ensuring appropriate Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) has been identified and addressed to reduce and/or eliminate future occurrence
  • Issue and disposition Non-Conforming Material Reports (NCR’s)
  • Initiate and participate in Continuous Improvement activities to improve Supplier performance, productivity, and processes
  • Monitor quality performance metrics for assigned Suppliers and develop Return to Green Plans
  • Lead activities such as Supplier qualification, Supplier development, and Supplier Zero Defect Programs (ZDP)
  • Ensure compliance of suppliers through leading and participating in supplier audits and manage Supplier risks
  • Coach Supplier Operations Team members on Quality Management System requirements
  • Works with limited Manager oversight
  • Provide mentoring to assigned Suppliers
  • Collaborate with internal ESA/ESL organizations to identify solutions
  • Consulting Relationships
    • Supply Chain Organization
    • Site Operations to include, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Program Management
    • Corporate Affiliates
    • External Supplier Stakeholders, Customers

 

Education, Experience/Knowledge & License/Certification

  • Bachelor's degree is required (or in lieu of degree equivalent, related work experience and or military service)
  • Degree Field Preferred: Engineering/Manufacturing or equivalent technical degree
  • 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Preferred Certifications/Licenses:
    • ASQ-CQE, CQA, or equivalent
    • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt

 

 

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read Blueprints, Engineering Drawings
  • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication (Technical Writing experience a plus)
  • Problem solving, analytical, and process improvement skills / experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality management methodologies such as:
    • Six-sigma, Lean, Kaizen
    • Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
    • Control Plans
    • ISO-9001/AS-9100
    • Quality Management Systems
  • Electrical Team Members:
    • Knowledge of:
      • IPC-610
      • IPC-620
      • J-STD 001
      • Electronic Assembly manufacturing to include Printed Circuit Boards
      • Cable and Harness manufacturing
  • Mechanical Team Members:
    • Knowledge of:
      • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
      • Metallurgy
      • Inspection Equipment
      • Castings and Forgings
      • AWS Welding

 

 

Travel/Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 30% - U.S. Passport
