This position is responsible for maintaining existing accounts and developing strong customer relationships as well as gaining competitive market intelligence in a broad geography. Sales Managers work to exceed sales goals by gaining new accounts, price management and developing new business growth opportunities. Emphasis will be placed on maintaining a sustainable competitive advantage by providing the best level of total customer satisfaction by thoroughly understanding how Lhoist offerings impact customer processes, total cost of ownership, in addition to understanding competing products, services and technologies. Responsibilities include meeting/exceeding sales objectives, maintaining existing accounts, focusing on increased revenues through positive price increases, gaining new accounts, new business development, understanding competitive market, customer service/satisfaction, developing strong customer relationships through visiting customers, engaging in reasonable entertainment events, matching products with customer specs, and ensuring delivery, resolving customer issues, making clear and concise presentations to customers, providing competitive quotes, understanding production capabilities as well as competition, developing knowledge of customer processes to document the value Lhoist products provide, enhancing profitability, budgeting and forecasting sales accurately, investigating, analyzing and interpreting industry/sales data, creating and maintaining long range sales plans, accurately determining value of products in marketplace through market analysis, documentation of value in use of Lhoist products, developing and enhancing market intelligence in existing and new territories, increasing sales with existing customers by providing additional technical expertise, negotiating best possible prices for customer and LNA, representing company in all customer dealings, providing bids, quotes and prices that put LNA and customer in best possible position to achieve long term goals, and performing other duties as assigned. Attributes required include complete understanding of LNA production, dispatch and transportation process and all associated costs, outstanding negotiating skills, ability to set priorities, manage time and deliver results, strong relationship building skills, strong problem-solving skills, demonstrated technical knowledge, strong verbal and written communication skills, strong influencing skills, self-starter with strong initiative, excellent value selling and negotiation skills, strong presentation and public speaking skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects, strong sense of urgency, good understanding of safety within manufacturing environments, forward looking action-oriented team player, and must be capable of significant territory travel. Physical demands include ability to perform assigned work, access all plant locations, tolerate severe weather and industrial conditions, access heights and confined spaces, work in office, mining, and lime processing environments, exposure to extreme heat and cold, noise, vibration, oils, dust, fumes, and metallic particles, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to travel up to 70%. Required education is a Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience. Preferred education is a Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Finance. Required experience is 5 to 10 years of sales leadership and multiple accounts management in heavy industry or related fields. Preferred experience is 8+ years in sales leadership and multiple accounts management.
