Job Summary
The Contracts Administrator II is a mid-level role reporting to a Contracts Manager. This position is responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of contracts for a range of products and services, spanning from proposal creation to contract closeout. Key duties include proposal preparation, contract administration, and customer engagement. The Contracts Administrator II ensures contracts are fulfilled in line with company policies, legal standards, and client specifications. This role also interprets contract terms and conditions, while monitoring compliance with contractual requirements and obligations.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Apply skills under the direction of a Contract Manager to maintain contracts for various products and services from proposal development through product/service delivery and final contract closeout.
- Participate in proposal preparation, support contract negotiations, manage contract administration, and engage in customer contact activities to ensure proper contract fulfillment in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and customer specifications.
- Serve as a member of the business team during contract negotiations, advising management on contractual rights and obligations and recommending actions to mitigate contract risk.
- Interpret contract terms and conditions and monitor performance against contract requirements and obligations during contract execution.
- Examine estimates of materials, equipment services, production costs, performance requirements, and delivery schedules for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with government regulations during proposal preparation.
- Essential functions include, but are not limited to: producing contractual letters, drafting narratives for contract changes, participating in contract negotiations, interpreting order requirements and agreements, billing support, maintaining assigned contract files, and tracking all internal and external contractual obligations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Education, and Experience
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Preferred degree field: Business Administration.
- 3–5 years of relevant functional experience required.
- 1–3 years of industry experience required.
- Experience and knowledge in Government Contracting.
- Understanding of Contract Terms and Conditions (FAR & DFAR).
- Previous experience with negotiation processes.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Team player with good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently when necessary.
- Financial understanding of rate structures and pricing strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to handle complex contractual agreements.
