About the Role

The Designer/Drafter on our Field Application Engineering Team, is a hybrid role that involves creating technical drawings and designs for Field Installation Projects.  This role requires strong knowledge of mechanical assembly and civil site construction.  It also requires technical drafting skills using 3D CAD software and the ability to collaborate with Engineers and Project Managers to ensure designs meet field requirements, comply with industry standards, and are revised based on real-world feedback.

This role reports to the Manager, Field Application Engineering.

 

This full-time role is based in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX and involves up to 25% travel to customer sites and operational locations.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and Update Technical Drawings
      • Utilize 3D CAD software: Create detailed 3D assemblies, layouts, schematics and technical drawings to be utilized by 3rd party contractors for site preparation and field technicians for assembly and installation work.
      • Follow Standardized Processes: Utilize and follow all SOP’s applicable to your role and team.
      • Ensure Compliance: Make sure all documents comply with company standards for document communication and fulfill customer / project requirements.
      • Support Documentation: Assist in creating technical documentation like assembly instructions, installation guides and inspection procedures.

     

  • Collaborate with Engineering and Project Management Teams
      • Incorporate feedback: Revise and update drawings based on feedback from Product Engineering, Field Application Engineers, Project Managers, Field Installation Technicians as required and agreed to by your manager.
      • Collaborate with various teams: Work closely with Field Application Engineers and Project Managers to translate their design concepts into detailed actional drawing / documentation packets.

    Qualifications

    Ideal Background Skill Sets

      • 3 to 5 years’ designing/drafting experience utilizing 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks and the ability to show 3D CAD proficiency
      • A solid understanding of drafting principles and technical drawing standards.
      • 1 to 3 years’ designing/drafting experience with construction / civil site preparation methodologies encompassing trenching, conduit, concrete, flat sawing, general assembly and installation.
      • 1 to 3 years’ experience in designing/drafting mechanical parts and assemblies
      • Demonstrated ability to interpret design intent from engineering notes and sketches and translate it into manufacturable and solution using Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM&A) principles.
      • Associates degree in 3D CAD designing/drafting or related technical field
      • Meticulous with detail; excels in driving results.
      • Ability to work with and communicate effectively with engineers, project managers, field technicians and other team members.
