Description

Position Summary:

Supervise a team of prototype technicians and Test Seat build assemblers. Prioritize tasks in support of company programs, in coordination with the Stress/Simulation and HOV Seat Build Manager, Platform Engineering, and Sales teams if applicable. Plan and execute the goals of the department, including personnel training and development, and addition of new skills and capabilities. Provide technical, personnel, and leadership support of the daily activities associated with the Prototype department and Test Seat Build department with general supervision.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned:

  • Supervise internal prototype builds, developmental test seats and Certification test seats. 
  • Coordinate between internal departments (Platform Engineering, Testing, Program Management, Quality, Logistics, Planning and Purchasing). Coordinate a build schedule that will satisfy all parties involved. 
  • Effectively communicate and elevate issues impacting the daily performance of the prototype seat build and test seat build from Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and Logistics to the Stress/Simulation and HOV Seat Build Manager.? 
  • Motivate and lead the team to meet company goals. 
  • Ensure Prototype equipment’s are maintained and operated safely. 
  • Ensure all equipment is updated, calibrated, and in accordance with quality standards.? 
  • Train technicians on equipment usage in the Prototyping department and Test seat build department.  
  • Train technicians on creation of deviation lists for test articles; ballasting of test articles, in accordance with the instructions provided by engineering team. 
  • Create procedures and process for the Prototype department and Test Seat build department.? 
  • Review and Maintain daily attendance reports. 
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized workplace; Conduct regular housekeeping audits. 
  • Support and maintain 5S initiatives. 
  • Conduct performance evaluation for Prototype and Test seat build technicians 


Requirements

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Associates or Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Relevant work experience in lieu of degree accepted.

Experience:

  • Degree + 4 years’ (or no degree and 8+ years) of aircraft seat assembly or closely relevant & related experience. Knowledgeable of the entire seat assembly process. 
  • Exceptional organizational skills, self-motivation, a sense of urgency and sensitivity to short and changing deadlines, and a detail-oriented style are required
  • Proven track record of leading a team through the development of complex mechanical systems 
  • Ability to lead and facilitate effective meetings.
  • Proven experience in problem solving and root cause analysis. 
  • Experience with Lean Methodology.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints or technical drawings and Bill of Materials.
  • Knowledge of aviation legislations, quality and environmental requirements and standards of quality management are preferred (FAA Part 21, EASA Part 21, AS 9100, ISO 14001). 
  • Experience using Teamcenter and SAP is preferred. 

Computer Skills:

Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required [specifically – basic formulas, data collection, categorize and sort, reports. (want capability to gather and analyze data. In MS Word, professional typing and business writing)

Lean/Six Sigma is a plus
