Description

Position Function:

Under the general direction of the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Technician supports the maintenance, safety, and overall functionality of agency buildings and grounds by performing a variety of general maintenance and repair tasks. Responsibilities include assisting with preventive maintenance for HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems; completing work orders; maintaining indoor and outdoor spaces; and supporting landscaping, cleaning, and minor repair projects. This role also involves responding to on-call needs, assisting with special events, moving and assembling furniture, and supporting weather preparedness and recovery efforts. The Facilities Technician travels between sites as needed and is expected to provide excellent customer service while upholding organizational standards and ethics of ACH.

Requirements:

Education: High school education or equivalent required.


Experience: Experience in general maintenance such as carpentry, electrical (basic), grounds, janitorial, painting, vehicle maintenance, and the completion of maintenance related duties.


Functional: Ability to tolerate physical activity, such as walking, standing, climbing, lifting, and squatting. Must be able to lift 50 pounds, and up to 100 pounds with assistance. Must possess a valid Texas driver's license and be able to operate several types of vehicles: multi­ passenger vans, trucks, golf carts, tractors, and standard passenger cars. Must not have been charged with or convicted of a felony or criminal offense against a child.


Working Conditions:

Exposure to the normal hazards of light industrial environment which includes electric hand tools, welders, power saws, chemicals used for general cleaning and building maintenance. Exposure to illness and blood exists. Environment will also consist of external settings, with associated heat and cold exposures.

Maintain confidentiality & follow policies related to personal records & client records.


Key Expectations/Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the compliance of preventive maintenance schedules of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Performing painting, carpentry, electrical, landscaping (mowing, weed removal, mulching, leaf blowing, and sweeping), plumbing repairs, and cleaning inside/outside the building
  • Cleaning outdoor grounds (playgrounds, roads, sidewalks, and parking lots), inside buildings, and restrooms
  • Mowing, re-stocking supplies, and completing facilities requests during, on call issues, and general maintenance
  • Picking up trash in and around the facilities, cleaning all areas as needed (i.e., mop, sweep, dust, etc.)
  • Cleaning, maintaining, and servicing tools/equipment
  • Assisting with special events and performing a variety of tasks as needed
  • Moving and assembling or disassembling furniture as needed
  • Pressure washing sidewalks, washing windows, and cleaning glass fixtures as needed.
  • Repairing asphalt and small concrete projects
  • Prepare for storms and clean up damages (board windows, spread ice melt, re-fuel generators, etc.)
  • Driving between job sites and/or vendor locations
  • Providing positive and enthusiastic customer service to all employees and clients
  • Other duties as directed by the Director of Facilities, Facilities Manager, or Facilities Coordinator
  • Maintain high ethical standards which are outlined in the ACH Child and Family Services Code of Ethics.
