Position Summary
This role requires a hands-on engineer who can take projects from concept through design, manufacturing, and final implementation, while collaborating closely with customers, sales, and shop personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with sales and customers to understand application requirements and develop effective mechanical solutions
- Design and engineer custom equipment and systems to solve complex technical challenges
- Create detailed 3D models and drawings using SolidWorks
- Develop complete drawing packages for manufacturing, including BOMs and fabrication details
- Manage projects from initial concept through final build and implementation
- Provide hands-on support during assembly, testing, and troubleshooting in the shop
- Assist in evaluating and improving designs for manufacturability and performance
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering and design processes
- Support and potentially develop skills in robotic integration, including ABB robot programming
- Experience with GD&T to interpret, apply, and communicate engineering design intent on drawings
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field (or higher)
- Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant mechanical design experience
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling and drafting)
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, fabrication methods, and manufacturing processes
- Hands-on shop or manufacturing experience preferred
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work directly with customers
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing custom machinery or automated systems
- Familiarity with robotics or automation systemsÂ
- Interest or experience in programming industrial robots (ABB experience a plus)
