Summary:

Are you passionate about providing rapid, accurate, and compassionate care to pediatric patients with a wide range of needs? Cook Children's has an opportunity for a full-time, (.9 FTE), Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join their dynamic urgent care team. The APP will function in a collaborative practice with the physician(s) in an Urgent Care Clinic (UCC) setting. The APP will autonomously perform patient assessments, form diagnoses and interventions according to approved protocols and evidence-based medicine. The APP will treat an average number of UCC patients per hour based on the requirements per UCC policy. The APP will prescribe a variety of modalities to meet the needs of the patient and families presenting to the UCC, up to and including, discharge from the UCC or facilitation of a referral and/or transport to a facility of a higher level of care and prescriptive authority. 

Education and Experience

Preference is given to APPs with critical care, ED or urgent care experience.

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses

Master’s Degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and Family or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Certification required. Minimum 1 year of pediatric nursing experience or related specialized area strongly preferred.

Physician Assistants

Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies and a minimum 1 year of experience in related specialized areas strongly preferred.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses

  • Current Texas professional registered nurse license
  • Current Texas professional advanced practice registered nurse license
  • Certified as a Family or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner required
  • Current Basic Life Support (CPR) required
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required

Physician Assistants

  • Current Texas professional physician assistant license 
  • Certified as a PA-C
  • Current Basic Life Support (CPR) required
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required
