NPI is seeking a highly capable Senior Systems Administrator to support and continuously improve the company's on-prem and cloud-based infrastructure. This role is responsible for maintaining stable, secure, and well-documented Windows server and workstation environments across corporate and operational systems while providing responsive support to internal users and ensuring critical business services remain available. The position is focused on administration and support of on-prem Windows Servers, Hyper-V virtualization, Microsoft Azure-hosted Windows servers, SQL databases, backup and recovery systems, endpoint deployment, identity and access management, network infrastructure, and core Microsoft cloud services. Ubuntu Server experience is preferred but not required. Key Responsibilities Infrastructure Administration Administer and support on-prem Windows Server environments, including provisioning, configuration, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Manage Hyper-V hosts and virtual machines, including deployment, storage, networking, resource allocation, and lifecycle management. Administer cloud-based Windows server infrastructure in Microsoft Azure, including VM deployment, configuration, monitoring, and operational support. Support and maintain SQL Server environments, including installations, backups, restores, patching coordination, security, and basic performance troubleshooting. Perform routine system patching, maintenance, and hardening activities for servers, infrastructure appliances, and supported endpoints. Backup, Recovery, and Business Continuity Administer Arctera Backup Exec for disk and tape backup operations, retention management, job monitoring, media handling, restore testing, and issue resolution. Manage backup schedules, backup set rotation, offsite media processes where applicable, and documentation of recovery procedures. Support disaster recovery and business continuity readiness through restoration validation, backup reporting, and recovery process improvement. Endpoint and User Support Provide Windows 11 workstation support, including imaging, setup, configuration, deployment, troubleshooting, software installation, hardware replacement coordination, and user onboarding/offboarding support. Support end users in onsite and remote environments, including administration of Microsoft 365 applications, Teams, Entra ID sign-in issues, BitLocker recovery, and Duo MFA enrollment or troubleshooting. Maintain workstation standards, documentation, and deployment processes to improve consistency, security, and supportability. Identity, Messaging, and Core Services Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file shares, permissions, service accounts, and core Windows infrastructure services. Administer Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Teams, and Exchange Online / Azure Exchange environments, including user provisioning, licensing, mailbox administration, and access management. Support security and access control technologies including Duo MFA, BitLocker, Brivo, XProtect, and VSAX as part of the broader enterprise technology environment. Network and Security Support Support Cisco network systems and VPN connectivity, including troubleshooting switches, firewall/VPN connectivity issues, network access, and related infrastructure dependencies. Assist with monitoring, documenting, and improving infrastructure security, access controls, patch compliance, and overall system reliability. Create and maintain accurate technical documentation for configurations, standards, procedures, diagrams, inventories, and change records. QualificationsTechnical Knowledge and Experience 5+ years of experience supporting and administering Windows Server environments in production business settings. Hands-on experience with Hyper-V administration and virtualized Windows server infrastructure. Experience supporting Microsoft Azure-hosted Windows servers and related cloud infrastructure services. Experience administering SQL Server databases, including backup/restore support and operational troubleshooting. Experience administering Arctera Backup Exec or comparable enterprise backup software for disk and tape backup environments. Strong experience with Windows 11 workstation deployment, setup, configuration, maintenance, and end-user support. Strong experience with Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Teams, and Exchange administration. Working knowledge of Cisco networking, VPN connectivity, endpoint security, and access control best practices. Experience with Duo MFA, BitLocker, XProtect, Brivo, and VSAX is strongly preferred. Ubuntu Server administration experience is preferred, but not required. Professional Skills and Competencies Strong troubleshooting skills across servers, workstations, cloud services, identity platforms, backup systems, and network-connected infrastructure. Ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users. Highly self-motivated with strong attention to detail, documentation discipline, and follow-through. Customer-service-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach to supporting internal stakeholders and business operations. Education and Certifications Bachelor's degree with 5-10 years of Systems Administration or Systems Engineering experience, OR Associate degree with 7+ years of related experience, OR 10+ years of equivalent hands-on infrastructure and systems administration experience. Relevant Microsoft, Azure, virtualization, networking, or security certifications are preferred.
