Summary:

The Sr. Specialist works collaboratively with teams and department leaders throughout Cook Children Healthcare System (CCHCS) to demonstrate our values and achieve Our Promise through the implementation of process improvement initiatives and programs. The Sr. Specialist acts as an internal expert, consultant and organizational process improvement champion who leads departmental and cross-functional teams, and assists with the coaching and mentoring of Green Belts, through all aspects of the continuous improvement effort using Lean, Six Sigma and other effective strategies and methodologies. The Sr. Specialist facilitates the identification, understanding and improvement of process issues by using appropriate quantitative and qualitative tools. The Sr. Specialist will assist with the development and delivery of process improvement training and education to the organization. As an agent of change, the Sr. Specialist will serve as a catalyst to create a culture that continuously strives for operational excellence and embraces the principles of process improvement. This role is expected to obtain the applicable lean six sigma certifications to perform the job functions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Nursing, or other clinical discipline.

  • Master's degree a plus.

  • At least 5 years of proven experience in Process Improvement using Lean and Six Sigma; Healthcare experience is a plus.

Certification/Licensure:

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification is required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Experienced and passionate process improvement leader and educator (formal or informal), with proven problem-solving experience.

Strong communication, facilitation and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary groups.

Experienced in training and mentoring Six Sigma Green Belts and other resources.

Skilled in the art of engaging employees at all level and proven ability to obtain buy-in from leadership.

Trusted professional credibility and proven record of performance with advanced analytical and statistical methods.

Highly flexible with the ability to manage and balance shifting priorities and timelines as needed.

Demonstrated understanding and application of basic software: MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio and Minitab.
