  • Role: Veterinary Technician
  • Status: Full-time
  • Salary: Negotiable and based on experience
  • Schedule: 5 shifts per week - weekends are on a rotation basis

 Penny Paws Animal Clinic – Richland Hills is looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician. This is the job for you if you are passionate about animals and want to work in a modern veterinary clinic where your career will flourish under the guidance of a caring DVM team.   Veterinary Technician Responsibilities:
  • Proficient in performing all skills of a surgical technician, including anesthetizing, maintaining, monitoring, and recovering patients perioperatively.
  • Clean and straighten exam rooms to prepare for incoming patients, following OSHA guidelines
  • Be familiar with infectious and common zoonotic diseases, including prevention, and the steps to reduce or eliminate transmission
  • Assist in restraining pets in a manner that allows necessary procedures to be done with minimal stress to patients, and ensure the safety of patients and people
  • Take accurate notes and medical history of patients in exam rooms for doctors
  • Anticipate the needs of the doctor for routine exam/surgery visits; follow doctors request to fill or refill medications
  • Take temperatures, samples, vitals as requested by doctor; draw up vaccines, flea/tick medication/prevention, etc.
  • Occasionally working our outdoor vaccine clinic.
  Veterinary Technician Qualifications:
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience as a veterinary technician (required) including the following: Surgery, advanced animal care, restraints, client/customer interaction, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, labwork, radiology, and pharmacology highly preferred
  • We are open 7 days a week so Saturday/Sunday working is required, typically on an every other weekend basis
