This includes monitoring the pool area, maintaining a safe environment, and supervising pool activities. The role also involves enforcing safety protocols, responding to emergencies swiftly, and providing a compassionate, supportive presence while working with the residents.   JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide constant supervision of the pool area to ensure the safety of all residents and staff. Monitor residents’ behavior in and around the pool, identifying and addressing any potential safety hazards or risky behavior. Enforce all pool rules and safety procedures to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries. Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, including administering first aid or CPR if necessary. Ensure the pool area is clean, safe, and free of hazards. Regularly inspect pool equipment and facilities to ensure they are in optimal condition. Report any maintenance issues to the supervisor and assist with basic pool maintenance tasks as needed. Communicate effectively with staff and residents regarding pool activities and safety expectations. Perform other duties and special projects assigned to support organizational objectives and enhance operational efficiency.   QualificationsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or equivalent. Current lifeguard certification, CPR, and first aid certification. Previous experience as a lifeguard, preferably in a residential or group home setting. Ability to assess and respond to emergency situations quickly and calmly. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Strong documentation skills, with the ability to record incidents thoroughly and accurately. Keen attention to detail.   PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: Experience working with individuals with diverse needs and backgrounds is preferred.   WORKING CONDITIONS: Work performed primarily in an outdoor pool environment with exposure to varying weather conditions, including sun, heat, wind, and occasional rain. Frequent interaction with pre-teen and teen girls in foster care, requiring patience, compassion, and trauma-informed communication. Requires sustained attention and vigilance during pool supervision to ensure safety. May involve working afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on pool usage and program needs. Exposure to chlorine and other pool maintenance chemicals. Regular, punctual attendance is essential for maintaining efficient service delivery.   PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to swim proficiently and perform water rescues. Frequent standing, walking, climbing in and out of the pool, and bending to inspect equipment or assist residents. Ability to perform CPR, first aid, and other emergency response procedures, which may involve kneeling, bending, and exerting physical effort. Quick physical response times required to react to emergencies in or around the pool area.
