Job DetailsJob Location: Forty Fort, PA 18704The Speech and Language Pathologist Clinical Fellow will work under the supervision, according to ASHA guidelines, with an SLP CF mentor. They will evaluate, diagnose, and treat children with speech or language disorders, formulate individualized treatment plans, keep appropriate records, and inform faculty and parents about child’s progress. This position will serve the pediatric population including children and families with various difficulties. This is a full-time position and will be offered for the duration of the Clinical Fellowship Year. Upon completion of the Clinical Fellowship Year and achievement of Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP), candidate may be invited to apply for a permanent full-time position with the company, should one be available at that time.   Duties/Responsibilities: · Complies with all clinical competencies as outlined by ASHA together with SLP CF mentor. · Performs comprehensive diagnostic evaluations on pediatric population. Analyze, interpret, and document evaluation results. Selects therapy activities to fit clients’ needs and capabilities. Observes and records clients’ progress, attitudes, and behavior, and maintains this information in client records. · Develops a patient care plan with short- and long-term goals. · Communicates and collaborates with other health care professionals involved with the care of a client. · Maintain all records in compliance with regulations, reimbursement requirements, and job responsibilities. · Plan and provide individual and/or group therapy according to individual needs and goals. · Assembles, cleans, and maintains equipment and materials for client use. · Provide family education and training to assist in carryover of skills into a client’s daily living environment · Communicates effectively and professionally with other disciplines including but not limited to: physicians, psychologists, behavior therapists, occupational therapists, administrative staff · Collaborates with other team members in a therapy session, as appropriate · Make appropriate referrals to additional services such as psychology, dentistry, audiology, behavior therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or educational services. · Maintain compliance with state and federal policies Pennsylvania State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, and ASHA. · Participate in in-service training, as appropriate · Repeats evaluations and re-evaluations on a regular basis to measure progress according to professional guidelines · Keeps current with professional literature and strives for evidence-based practice skills · Transports clients to and from therapy work area. · Assumes responsibility for client during session while parent or guardian remains in waiting room · Performs clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, collecting data, and documenting health insurance billings · Tracks educational and treatment supplies and notifies appropriate department of need for re-order QualificationsRequired Skills/Abilities: · Hearing ability sufficient to evaluate client’s speech . · Interest in working with children and their families/caregivers. · Ability to work professionals from various disciplines. · Be prepared and on time for all therapy sessions and meetings. · Strong client care skills. · Strong and professional communication skills when working with families and other staff. · Strong professional attributes including (but not limited to) dressing in assigned uniform, arriving to work on time, complying with all HIPAA regulations, etc. · Maintenance of clearances, according to company policies Education and Experience: · Master’s degree in speech and language pathology required · PA State provisional license required upon offer · Preferred academic experience in pediatrics · Preferred experience in working with Augmentative and Assistive Communication · Preferred experience in working with clients with feeding and swallowing difficulties Physical Requirements: · Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. · Prolonged periods of standing, reaching, and bending while working with children. · Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times if necessary.
