The RN Unit Manager/Charge-Supervisor is responsible for ensuring high-quality, individualized resident care while supporting and leading nursing staff. This position works closely with residents, families, physicians, nursing leadership, and other departments to ensure residents' needs are met 24 hours a day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate nursing care for residents on an assigned unit.
- Support the nurse supervisor role, as needed, with staff, resident, vendor, and departmental oversight for the facility.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized resident care plans.
- Ensure compliance with federal and Pennsylvania long-term care regulations.
- Monitor the quality of resident care through observation, documentation review, audits, and quality improvement activities.
- Assign, supervise, and evaluate nursing staff to ensure appropriate staffing and quality care.
- Provide staff education, coaching, and support to promote professional growth and excellent resident care.
- Address resident, family, and staff concerns and assist with problem-solving.
- Coordinate care with physicians, rehabilitation, therapeutic recreation, and other ancillary services.
- Ensure physician orders, documentation, care plans, and other required records are completed accurately.
- Promote resident rights, dignity, privacy, independence, and choice.
- Participate in staff performance evaluations and disciplinary processes when necessary.
- Maintain appropriate staffing, supplies, and resources to support unit operations.
- Communicate important resident care information and policy changes across all shifts.
- Participate in meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and other nursing department activities.
Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing in Pennsylvania.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- 2–3 years of professional nursing experience, preferably in long-term care.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to supervise, coach, and evaluate nursing staff.
- Knowledge of state and federal long-term care regulations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with residents, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Ability to safely assist with and maneuver residents as needed to provide care.
