1.0 Position Summary
This position is responsible for operating and supporting advanced manufacturing systems used for precision repair, machining, inspection, and testing of turbine and aerospace components. The role requires strong CNC experience and the ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and measurement results. The Advanced Manufacturing Technician operates multiple specialized processes including robotic inspection systems, multi-axis machining equipment, laser processing systems, and airflow testing equipment.
2.0 Primary Functions
2.1 Follow verbal and written instructions from supervisor and conduct oneself according to internal policies, procedures, and standards of behavior.
2.2 Operate and support advanced manufacturing equipment including 5-axis EDM / laser processing systems, robotic blue light scanning systems, laser welding equipment, and airflow testing equipment.
2.3 Program, troubleshoot, and maintain CNC and automated machine programs.
2.4 Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and customer specifications to ensure parts meet dimensional and functional requirements.
2.5 Review and interpret inspection results such as CMM reports to confirm part conformance.
2.6 Assist in process development, qualification, and continuous improvement efforts.
2.7 Ensure production schedule requirements are met.
2.8 Maintain organization and revision control of machine programs and related documentation.
2.9 Train new hires as needed on equipment operation and processes.
3.0 Additional Duties
3.1 Perform additional duties as requested by supervisor.
3.2 Assist in part qualification and process validation activities.
3.3 Provide input on fixturing, tooling, and process improvements.
3.4 Support teammates and cross-functional teams as needed.
3.5 Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
4.0 Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
4.1 Strong background in CNC machining and multi-axis equipment.
4.2 Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and part models.
4.3 Strong understanding of GD&T principles and application.
4.4 Ability to review and interpret inspection data such as CMM reports and dimensional inspection results.
4.5 Familiarity with precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
4.6 Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude.
4.7 Ability to work with automated manufacturing and robotic systems.
4.8 Understanding of quality systems and manufacturing documentation.
4.9 Ability to follow safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE when required.
4.10 Ability to sit at a computer terminal or machine for extended periods of time.
4.11 Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
4.12 Ability to be physically present at workstation during normal business hours designated for the position.
5.0 Working Conditions
This position is primarily an indoor manufacturing role and involves working with automated equipment and inspection systems. Work will be performed in both climate-controlled areas and manufacturing floor environments.
