Position Summary
Are you a hands-on engineer with a passion for improving production performance and driving operational excellence? As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring new, revised, and existing production processes operate efficiently and meet customer specifications. You will play a key role in troubleshooting technical issues, supporting production teams, and implementing improvements that enhance quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
Primary Functions
As a key contributor to our engineering and production operations, you will:
Process Optimization: Improve production processes to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost reduction.
Technical Operations: Operate thermal spray booth consoles and develop basic robot programs.
Production Expertise: Perform and support coating processes including masking, grit blasting, spraying, and finishing.
Measurement & Inspection: Utilize precision measuring devices such as micrometers, eddy current gauges, calipers, and roughness testers.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues affecting existing production processes.
Process Implementation: Ensure smooth transfer of new processes from qualification to full production.
Documentation Support: Collabor with engineering to update and correct production documents.
Training & Support: Assist in training production staff to support productivity, quality, and safety improvements.
Tooling Management: Maintain tooling, fixtures, and masking equipment; coordinate replacements as needed.
Safety & 5S: Support safety initiatives and 5S practices within production areas.
Quality Collaboration: Partner with the Quality Department to ensure processes meet acceptable standards.
Continuous Improvement: Develop and implement process improvement plans.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with engineering on pre-production activities to ensure successful production launch.
Issue Resolution: Monitor daily production issues and drive timely resolution.
Additional Duties
Perform other responsibilities as assigned to support company objectives.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: 5+ years of manufacturing plant and project engineering experience preferred.
Industry Knowledge: Strong knowledge of thermal spray coating processes, including HVOF and plasma spray systems.
Technical Skills: Ability to read technical drawings, specifications, and production documentation.
Leadership & Teamwork: Strong leadership abilities with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions.
Communication: Ability to provide clear and concise instructions.
Computer Skills: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Workflow Understanding: Knowledge of product workflow on a part-by-part or job basis.
Equipment Operation: Ability to operate thermal spray equipment and basic robotic systems.
Measurement Skills: Proficiency with calipers, micrometers, scales, and other precision tools.
Safety Awareness: Commitment to safety standards and proper use of PPE.
Physical Requirements: Ability to bend, twist, climb, stoop, stand, and lift up to 50 pounds; ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
Attention to Detail: Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
Travel: Ability to travel up to 10% as needed.
Attendance: Regular onsite attendance during designated business hours is essential.
Working Conditions
This position is primarily onsite, with approximately 15% of time spent in a climate-controlled environment and 85% in a non-climate-controlled production environment.
