Job DetailsJob Location: Lyons, OR 97358Position Type: Full TimeJob Shift: DayJob Category: Manufacturing Job Title: Beam & Column Sawline Operator II (Experienced/Senior Level) Branch: Mass Plywood Panel Manufacturing Report To: Plant Manager/ Shift Supervisor Schedule: Trained on Day Shift but will move to Swing Shift once trained Status: Full-time Wage Range: $ 26.80 Date: Open JOB SUMMARY The Beam and Column Sawline Operator II reports to the MPP Plant Manager/ Shift Supervisor and is assigned primarily to the saw line. This position is to ensure the smooth operation of the Beam and Column Sawline. The B & C Sawline Operator uses saws and a variety of machines to cut wood and other materials. Job duties include, but are not limited to, setting up and inspecting equipment, installing blades, measuring the length, width and depth to cut to specifications, and operating the sawline, clean up, and PET saw operation. The distinction between Level I and II typically revolves around the complexity of machine setup, the level of supervision required, and the ability to troubleshoot advanced technical issues. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Previous experience working in a plywood, lumber or engineered wood facility is preferred. Applicable experience includes working with panel sawing and finishing and/or lumber production Must be able to read a tape measure and perform basic math concepts to set up saws and guides to the specific sizing for each job While operating the machine, it is important to look for any defects or issues Assist packing and transporting of finished pieces Must be able to read and write to accurately complete all necessary paperwork Must regularly exhibit attention to detail Must ensure safety in work area at all times Assist with the greasing and maintenance of equipment when needed. Lock Out/Tag Out training will be required. Hearing protection and safety glasses worn where needed Responsibilities: Sets up, runs, and monitors complex automated beamline equipment (robots, plasma, blasters) with minimal supervision. Tasks: Assists in Interpreting 3D CAD models for programming. Troubleshoots mechanical or software issues. Mentors new operators. Optimizes cutting techniques for efficiency. Safety: Adheres to OSHA, PPE, and safety protocols. Equipment: Proficient with saws, drills, and material handling tools. Documentation: Accurately completes production records, tags, and scrap reports. Physical: Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for long periods. Primary Duties: Advanced Setup: Adjust feed rates, tension, and pressure according to specific material alloys or thicknesses. Programming: May Assist with Downloading and managing CNC (Computer Numerical Control) programs and nesting software. Technical Troubleshooting: Identify and fix machine malfunctions beyond basic jams. Blueprint Interpretation: Independently read and follow complex engineering drawings and job travelers. Leadership: May assist in training Level I operators and managing production flow to meet deadlines. Hearing protection and safety glasses worn where needed PHYSICAL DEMANDS Standing for long periods of time and occasional lifting Up and down stairs regularly Must have good physical stamina Typically working five days per week, but occasionally six days per week Must be able to work in an environment of dust and loud noises Conditions: Industrial settings with moderate to high noise levels; often requires wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) like steel-toed boots, hard hats, and hearing protection. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods. QUALIFICATIONS Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent; basic understanding of metalworking, industrial math, and safety procedures.
