We are committed to providing high-quality, customized intravenous (IV) medications and sterile compounding services to long-term care facilities, ensuring the well-being of our patients. We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated sterile Compounding Pharmacist/ IV Pharmacist to join our team.


Position Overview:

As a Sterile Compounding Pharmacist / IV Pharmacist at Medwiz, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and accurate preparation, dispensing, and monitoring of intravenous medications for our long-term care patients. You will work closely with a team of experienced pharmacy professionals to deliver pharmaceutical care that meets the highest standards of quality and safety.


Key Responsibilities:


· IV Medication Compounding: Prepare sterile IV medications and parenteral nutrition solutions accurately and in compliance with regulatory standards.

· Medication Review: Conduct medication order reviews to ensure appropriateness, accuracy, and patient-specific requirements are met.

· Quality Assurance: Perform routine quality control checks on compounding processes and maintain aseptic technique to prevent contamination.

· Patient Safety: Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and effective use of IV medications, monitoring for potential drug interactions, adverse effects, and therapeutic outcomes.

· Regulatory Compliance: Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as accreditation standards for sterile compounding. Adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines governing pharmacy practice, including USP 797 standards for sterile compounding. Stay informed about updates and changes in regulations to ensure compliance.

· Documentation: Maintain accurate and complete records of all IV compounding activities, patient profiles, and medication orders.

· Team Collaboration: Work closely with pharmacy technicians and other staff to coordinate IV medication orders and ensure timely delivery to long-term care facilities.

· Continuing Education: Stay current with advancements in IV compounding techniques, pharmaceutical products, and regulatory requirements through ongoing education and training.

· Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to medication-related emergencies and provide guidance on proper handling and administration.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited pharmacy school.

• Active pharmacist license in the state of MA.

• Board of Pharmacy Sterile Compounding Certification (preferred).

• Prior experience in IV compounding in a closed-door or long-term care pharmacy setting (preferred).

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to patient safety.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

• Knowledge of pharmacy computer systems and software for prescription processing.
