Sr. Inventory Analyst – Staples

Work Location: Framingham, MA

 

As a central part of our Supply Chain organization, the Sr. Inventory Analyst plays a leadership role among peers and interacts with the Merchandising team. You will help manage the product assortment for our retail stores, commercial, and online businesses, ensuring the efficient flow of inventory and supporting sales and profitability goals.

 

The Sr. Inventory Analyst is responsible for managing inventory flow for specific product categories, working closely with external vendors, and ensuring a superior customer experience. This role offers high-level exposure, development opportunities, and significant responsibility from purchasing to customer delivery.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Utilize forecasting, planning, and allocation systems to order and ensure smooth product flow to stores, distribution centers, and fulfillment centers

  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels through accurate forecasting and response to sales trends.

  • Reduce out-of-stocks during critical events (weekly ads, seasonal promotions).

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to execute product shifts, seasonal buys, and customer onboarding.

  • Develop and maintain positive vendor relationships for timely and accurate order processing and delivery.

  • Track, expedite, and maintain purchase orders; escalate supply chain issues as needed.

  • Analyze daily reports and conduct data pulls to identify opportunities to reduce inventory and increase turn.

  • Respond to sales-driving product requests from associates and B2B sales reps.

  • Mentor, train, and act as a role model for less experienced Inventory Analysts.

  • Conduct ad hoc analyses and stretch projects to optimize inventory flow.

  • Complete formal training and pass E3 replenishment system certification exam.

 

What you bring to the table:

  • Flexible, detail-oriented, with strong planning and organizational skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to assume a leadership role within your direct team of colleagues

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience with Supply Chain Planning and Inventory Management systems (E3, JDA).

What’s needed – Basic Qualifications:

  • Mandatory schooling and Bachelor’s Degree required.

  • 2+ years of related work experience, or an advanced degree with slightly less experience.

  • Flexible, detail oriented, with strong planning and organizational skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Experience working with Supply Chain Planning and Inventory Management systems (i.e. E3, JDA)

The salary range represents the expected compensation for this role at the time of posting. The specific base pay may be influenced by a variety of factors to include the candidate's experience, skill set, education, geography, business considerations, and internal equity. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for bonuses, or other forms of variable compensation
