Job DetailsJob Location: Frankfort Ind School District - Frankfort , KY 40601Position Type: Full TimeSchool-Based Optometrist OD Cumberland Family Medical Center (CFMC) operates a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) offering a wide range of health and social services at multiple sites throughout Kentucky. We are seeking a compassionate and motivated School-Based Optometrist to provide on-site vision care services to students in a school-based setting. This role is ideal for a provider who is passionate about improving access to care and making a direct impact on children’s health and academic success. You will travel to various schools with a mobile clinic setup, delivering comprehensive eye exams and coordinating follow-up care as needed.   Location: Frankfort and surrounding area   Job Functions/Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive eye exams for students Diagnose and manage common pediatric vision conditions Collaborate with school-based health and nursing staff Provide referrals and care coordination as needed Counsel patients on proper eye care practices, including hygiene, nutrition, and the use of corrective lenses. Educate patients on the prevention of eye diseases and the importance of regular eye exams. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including examination findings, diagnoses, treatment plans, and prescriptions. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as ophthalmologists, primary care physicians, and other specialists, to provide coordinated patient care. Stay current with the latest advancements in optometry and ophthalmology through continuing education and professional development. Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards related to the practice of optometry. Kentucky Board of Optometry licensure required   Required Experience: Pediatric experience preferred Driver's License and travel required   Required Skills and Abilities: Comprehensive eye examination skills, including diagnosis and management of ocular diseases. Proficiency in performing refractions, prescribing corrective lenses, and fitting contact lenses. Knowledge of ocular pharmacology and therapeutics. Ability to operate and interpret diagnostic equipment, such as visual field analyzers, optical coherence tomography (OCT), and tonometers. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, staff, and colleagues. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Ability to maintain accurate and detailed patient records. Commitment to providing high-quality patient care. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Adherence to ethical and professional standards of practice.   Schedule Requirements: Full-time position, 5 days per week, 100% clinic-based, in person work required.
