Position Overview

A Delivery Driver (Class A or B) will be responsible for transporting goods to various locations, ensuring timely and safe delivery while providing excellent customer service. This role requires a strong commitment to safety and efficiency in driving and handling products.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.

  • Operate box trucks to safely transport goods to designated locations.
  • Adhere to all DOT regulations while operating the vehicle.
  • Load and unload products, ensuring safe handling and adherence to weight limits.
  • Navigate assigned routes efficiently while adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, addressing any inquiries or concerns from clients.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including signatures and any discrepancies.
  • Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks to ensure operational safety.
  • Utilize warehouse equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, for loading and unloading tasks.
  • Assist with warehouse duties as needed, including inventory management and organization.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

  • Proven experience as a Class A or B licensed Delivery Driver.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients.
  • Experience in commercial driving, particularly with box trucks or similar vehicles.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and moving of goods safely.
  • Familiarity with route driving and navigation tools is essential.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; manual transmission experience is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to present instructions and provide guidance to a team.
  • Ability to effectively present information to others in verbal and written formats.
  • Ability to work with a team and members of other departments on known concepts.
  • Willingness to follow instructions in both written and verbal formats.
  • A self-starter with a positive attitude who wants to make the workplace a better place to work.

 

Required Education and/or Experience

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
  • Three (3) years of commercial driving experience.
  • Requires a Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A or CDL-B) and maintains the license without restrictions.
  • Ability to pass random drug and alcohol screenings as required by the DOT.
  • Forklift certification/experience
  • No DUI over the past 7 years

 

Physical Demands and Abilities

The physical demands and work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job. While appropriate safety gear and procedures are in place, the working environment for this position is a warehouse with exposure to toxic and non-toxic fumes, noxious odors, dust, chemicals, extreme temperatures, humidity, and elevated noise levels.

  • Ability to operate and maintain certification for a forklift and picker, both stand-up and sit-down.
  • Sit and remain alert for extended periods of time while driving.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to consistently lift 20 to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 to 100 lbs. with assistance.
  • Ability to stand, bend, crouch, stoop, and reach.
  • Ability to step up into a forklift or box truck multiple times a day.
  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences, which includes the ability to understand and hear the speech of another person.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking and writing so others will understand.
  • The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

 

 

Other Requirements

  • May be required to attend and participate in professional development activities outside the office to stay abreast of new developments and best practices.
  • May be required to work extended or weekend hours in an emergency or project-specific situation.
