This is a direct hire, full time, on-site position based in Franklin Park, IL.
Position Overview:
SGL is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Air Export Gateway Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of hands-on experience in air export gateway operations, with a strong understanding of air freight logistics, distribution processes, and documentation requirements. This role is responsible for providing customer service, managing air export consolidations, ensuring compliance, and fostering vendor relations while maintaining data integrity and supporting process improvements.
Job Responsibilities:
- Process Air Export Gateway consolidations in coordination with origin air export departments, including: Receiving cargo, planning or booking cargo, processing consolidation paperwork, transferring to carrier, tracking and tracing until arrival.
- Manage air freight capacity via posted consolidation schedules and booking additional space as needed.
- Dispatch and oversee all airport transfers and pickups with local trucking vendors.
- Monitor and update daily reporting tools (e.g., Gateway PowerBI, Intl Ops, Google Docs) for data integrity.
- Communicate regularly with warehouse staff during the consolidation process to ensure quality and compliance.
- Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Maintain a sense of urgency and a positive attitude in the workplace.
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills with internal peers, external customers, and vendors.
- Exhibit self-motivation and the ability to work independently without constant supervision.
- Assume leadership roles and take the initiative in handling situations.
- Maintain positive vendor relationships.
- Ensure timely and accurate payment of vendor invoices.
- Maintain consolidation-level profitability.
- Commit to ongoing self-development and improvement.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Department Manager.
 Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify and address process inefficiencies, collaborating with the team for improvements.
- Analyze and trend data to drive process enhancements.
- Foster and strengthen relationships with Service Providers.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Air export experience +3 years (is must)
- Experience in air freight logistics and distribution
- Experience of bonded freight and cargo.

Physical Requirements:Â
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.Â
Work authorization/security clearance requirements:
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- Must pass TSA eligibility screening
Job Type: Full-time
Pay:Â $28 to $31 Per Hour
Schedule: 8-hour shift (Monday to Friday and rotating ½ day Saturday’s)
