Forklift Driver/Material Handler I

Position: Material Handler
Location: Franklin Park, IL
Pay Rate: $22.16/hour
Shift: Open to any shift

• 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM (+$0.75/hr)

• 3rd Shift: 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM (+$1.25/hr

Summary Description

The Material Handler I is responsible for the movement and flow of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods within the Thermoforming department. This role plays a key part in keeping production running efficiently while maintaining a strong focus on safety, organization, and quality.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Load and unload incoming and outgoing materials and products

• Perform roll splice operations

• Change and empty Gaylords and transport them to staging areas

• Inspect regrind material for contamination and ensure proper labeling

• Drain cyclones and socks to prevent material backup

• Stage rolls into roll carts and maintain proper material flow

• Operate forklifts, tugs, and pallet jacks safely

• Demonstrate knowledge of raw material types and handling procedures

• Follow all plant safety rules and guidelines

• Work closely with team members to meet production demands

• Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership

• You can sit or stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours)

• You can lift up to 50 lbs as needed

• You are comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures

• You have or are willing to wear steel-toe footwear

• You have experience in manufacturing (food, paper, plastic, or metal preferred)

• You have forklift experience in a manufacturing setting (2–3 years preferred)

• You have strong communication skills and work well in a team environment

• You are reliable and able to work overtime or weekends as needed
