Job purpose
This is an entry-level Laboratory Technician position to support laboratory operations. Responsibilities include performing routine tests, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring accurate documentation of results. The ideal candidate will follow established procedures, maintain a safe and organized work environment, and assist in achieving laboratory objectives. This position will report to the Laboratory Manager.
Duties and responsibilities
- Prepare, label, and process laboratory samples for testing and analysis.
- Perform routine laboratory tests according to established protocols.
- Operate, calibrate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Record, analyze, and report test results accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and compliance with safety regulations and quality management systems.
- Monitor inventory levels and order laboratory supplies as needed.
- Dispose of hazardous materials according to safety guidelines.
- Assist with troubleshooting equipment and resolving technical issues.
- Support laboratory quality assurance and quality control activities.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff and other departments to achieve operational goals.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required, Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Laboratory Science, Biology, Geology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field preferred.
- Previous laboratory experience preferred but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working conditions
- Industrial laboratory setting with exposure to chemicals and laboratory equipment.
- Strict adherence to safety control protocols is required.
- This is an on-site first shift position.
Physical requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity to handle laboratory instruments and specimens.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
