Job purpose

This is an entry-level Laboratory Technician position to support laboratory operations. Responsibilities include performing routine tests, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring accurate documentation of results. The ideal candidate will follow established procedures, maintain a safe and organized work environment, and assist in achieving laboratory objectives. This position will report to the Laboratory Manager.


Duties and responsibilities

  • Prepare, label, and process laboratory samples for testing and analysis.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests according to established protocols.
  • Operate, calibrate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Record, analyze, and report test results accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and compliance with safety regulations and quality management systems.
  • Monitor inventory levels and order laboratory supplies as needed.
  • Dispose of hazardous materials according to safety guidelines.
  • Assist with troubleshooting equipment and resolving technical issues.
  • Support laboratory quality assurance and quality control activities.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff and other departments to achieve operational goals.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma required, Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Laboratory Science, Biology, Geology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field preferred.
  • Previous laboratory experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Working conditions

  • Industrial laboratory setting with exposure to chemicals and laboratory equipment.
  • Strict adherence to safety control protocols is required.
  • This is an on-site first shift position.


Physical requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to handle laboratory instruments and specimens.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
