In 2024, RaganSmith joined the Pape-Dawson family of companies. RaganSmith, was founded in 1933 as a land surveying company. More than nine decades later, we have grown into an interdisciplinary consulting firm of experienced civil engineers, landscape architects, transportation experts, savvy surveyors, and brilliant land planners serving the private and public sectors.Â
We are seeking a full-time Engineer-in-Training IV based in our Franklin, TN office. This position will collaborate in-house with licensed civil engineers, landscape architects, and land surveyors to assist our clients in developing commercial and residential projects in the public and private sectors. This position is involved in the practical application of engineering principles to design infrastructure for site or commercial and residential land development projects.Â
Responsibilities
Assist a Project Manager in the production of project plans, specifications and cost estimates
Develop feasible design alternatives and compare significant parameters such as typical sections, horizontal and vertical alignments, right-of-way requirements and cost
Identify and analyze the principle design features and major design alternatives that satisfy the project’s purpose and need
Use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents
Prepare written technical reports and engineering studies using approved company format
Direct production work of technicians
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in civil or agricultural engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
3-4 years' experience in civil design - Â site, commercial and/or residential design
Tennessee EI/EIT or ability to achieve by reciprocity
Experience with middle Tennessee jurisdiction entitlement and zoning along with permitting processes and procedures
Previous preparation of TDEC NOI permit applications and SWPPPs
Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and MS Office Suite
Effective communication skills, both oral and written
Must be reliable and dependable
