A Day in Your Life at MKS:
As an Optics Assembler 2 at MKS Inc., you will partner with Operations to assemble various optical systems. In this role, you will report to the Production Manager for the Optical Filters Business Unit.
You Will Make an Impact By:
• Assembling, installing and aligning optical components in various optical systems, e.g., collimators, telescopes, variable cells which contain optics
• Applying some engineering principles, as well as optical knowledge and skills, in the production of the end product
• Producing technically complex opto-mechanical assemblies, subsystems, and instruments which meet specification requirements
• Working from drawings and optical data sheets on any assemblies, making any necessary set-ups for adjusting, assembling, testing, and using test instruments (including interferometers)
• Using various bonding techniques involving the bonding of metal to metal, glass to glass and metal to glass
• Using various measuring tools, e.g., indicators, micrometers, dial indicators, depth micrometer, etc.
• No travel is required.
Skills You Bring:
• 1+ year of related experience required
• Requires production experience with vocational instruction in opto-mechanical assembly, reading, writing, and arithmetic skills, ability to work from established drawings and optical data sheets and experience with measuring tools
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
• Perform activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods of time
• Regularly requires good manual dexterity and coordination
• Occasionally moves/positions objects up to 25 pounds
• Ability to remain in a stationary position for 75% of the time
• Frequently positions self to perform tasks and positions objects below, at, and above shoulder level
• Regularly requires manual dexterity and coordination of objects below, at and above shoulder level
• Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
• Must be able to exchange accurate information
• Operates in a [professional office and/or laboratory/manufacturing] environment
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
• Ability to observe documents and details at close range (within a few feet of the observer)
• Dedication to safety to mitigate hazards including handling mechanical and electrical hardware, high voltage, gas, water, and heat

Compensation and Benefits:
Pay Range: $16.70 - 27.83 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.
Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].
