The Engineering Specialist implements, maintains, and supports technical solutions for engineering projects to ensure system optimization. The role collaborates across departments to deliver innovative solutions, supports R&D efforts, and ensures compliance with technical standards. This position requires strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively.
Essential Functions
- Provides detailed engineering designs for projects with a technical component, including performance and capacity analysis (e.g., IOPS and multi-year storage growth trends).
- Develops technical design documents supporting infrastructure engineering in alignment with CHS and vendor best practices.
- Aligns solutions with architectural standards and storage technology roadmaps.
- Presents written and oral project updates, business cases, and technology assessments to stakeholders.
- Consults with business and technology teams to translate requirements into actionable technical deliverables.
- Supports project initiation by contributing to scope, objectives, approach, and deliverables.
- Facilitates meetings and document reviews to ensure consistency, accuracy, and technical alignment across departments.
- Coordinates documentation of technical processes and solutions, including updates to engineering publications.
- Evaluates and integrates new technologies to enhance engineering systems and processes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience required
- 4-6 years of experience in SAN engineering, including storage architecture, LUN provisioning, and performance optimization in large-scale environments (1PB+) required
- Strong background in system integration and performance analysis, with proficiency in platforms such as VMware, Windows, UNIX/Linux, SQL Server, or Oracle required
- Experience with logical architecture, data flow modeling, and storage replication technologies (e.g., EMC SRDF/A, TimeFinder) required
- Experience with Cisco Nexus and IBM AIX/Linux environments preferred
- Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to create and interpret complex technical documentation.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in engineering tools, systems integration, and performance optimization.
