Summary:

The Manufacturing Process Planner supports the operational Departments through a valid master schedule validating the manufacturing operational sequences.  A valid master schedule is one in which priority due dates and capacity need dates equal the required dates.  This is accomplished by creating and maintaining accurate operational sequences through router creation and maintenance with router groupings, engineering information, materials, and work centers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Use the bill of material item’s components and drawings to specify where each operation occurs and the sequence of operations that is necessary to fabricate/manufacture the item. Engineering/Production input when required.
  • Create and maintain routing sequences which define the operations that are required to produce an item and the lead time for an item at each routing activity step.
  • A work center is a specific production area on the shop floor where the routing operations occur.  For each work center, define:  number, description, queue, move times, operator, machine, hours-per day capacity, etc.
  • Routing instructions are critical for shop floor control, capacity requirements for planning, product costing, and measuring production efficiency.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the company’s products and processes to ensure optimal router accuracy.
  • View all Production Orders in a CREATE status looking (finish good and piece part orders) for options and or design of unit that would require adjustments on the router (materials and drawings). (SUPERBOMs hold many different options).  Maintain, update, and create configurable router operation sequence for job specific and templates.
  • Assist with the alternate BOM and router creations and maintenance.
  • Be the liaison between engineering, production,and planning.
  • Process costing all new HALB (make items) and FERT(pre-defined material type for finished products).
  • Member of the Item Setup Request team.
  • Assist with the Manufacturing Engineer in obtaining product line actual versus planned labor hours for router accuracy.  The Manufacture Engineer will inform you when and what information you need to provide to them.
  • Perform Production Planner duties by creating and maintain a manufacturing production plan and create manufacturing orders per plan.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Planning and Scheduling experience is a must!
  • A technical guru who understands ERP Systems and is a motivated keeping production on schedule and meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of assembly,fabrication, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Development and maintenance of Planning and Production Routings.
  • Coordinates with Production Planning to incorporate schedule changes.
  • Own the maintenance of critical information used to manage day-to-day production and manufacturing processes (ERP).
  • Conduct time studies, work measurement, and basic line balancing.
  • Utilize Six Sigma/Lean tools and techniques to drive innovations and improvements.

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering  (OR High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience)
  • Minimum of 5 years or related experience working in a production planning, shop floor fabrication environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in an MRP/ERP system.  SAP knowledge preferred.
  • Lean Manufacturing (6 sigma) and 5’s Methodology.
  • APICS knowledge required and certification preferred.
  • MS Office applications and MRP software proficiency

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • APICS CPIM certification
  • Six Sigma/Lean tools

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English at a high school level.
  • Ability to follow instructions in both written and oral form.
  • Ability to speak effectively with employees of the organization.

 

Mathematical Skills:

  • Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division
  • Convert to smallest unit of measure

Work Environment:

Office and Manufacturing.   Manufacturing production floor exposure to support the daily operations.
