We are seeking a Senior FPGA Engineer to join our Power Controls Group development team. This role is focused on the design, implementation, and verification of FPGA designs for high-reliability, mission-critical systems used in aerospace and defense applications.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in electronics hardware design and later specialized in FPGA development. Deep expertise in VHDL, Verilog, and SystemVerilog is required, along with a solid understanding of digital logic design, control theory, and digital signal processing (DSP).

Responsibilities

FPGA Design & Development

• Architect, implement, and optimize FPGA embedded control logic using VHDL, Verilog, and/or SystemVerilog.

• Develop low-level control and data-processing logic for high-reliability embedded and mixed-signal systems.

• Implement FPGA-based designs for control algorithms and digital signal processing pipelines.

FPGA & Hardware Integration

• Define FPGA architectures for control, signal processing, and interface management.

• Collaborate with electrical and systems engineers to define timing, interface, and performance requirements.

• Participate in schematic and PCB design reviews to ensure FPGA/hardware compatibility.

• Support design partitioning across FPGA, digital, analog, and power electronics subsystems.

Verification & Validation

• Develop simulation testbenches and perform module-level and system-level verification using ModelSim/Questa, Vivado, or equivalent tools.

• Support hardware bring-up, system integration, and lab debugging using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and standard electronic test equipment.

• Document design methods, verification procedures, and test results in accordance with company and DoD standards.

• Support compliance with DO-254 and other applicable aerospace/defense development standards.

• Participate in design reviews, peer reviews, and configuration management activities.

Required Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain or hold a DoD security clearance.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required).

• 8+ years of experience developing FPGA’s in aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability industries.

• Expert proficiency in VHDL, Verilog, and SystemVerilog.

• Strong background in digital logic design, timing closure, and simulation/verification.

• Experience with Xilinx, Intel/Altera, or Microchip/Microsemi FPGA toolchains.

• Prior electronics hardware design experience, including schematic-level understanding and board-level integration, before specializing in FPGA design.

• Strong technical documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with motor control systems and/or power electronics.

• Experience implementing FPGA-based control loops, DSP, or real-time data acquisition pipelines.

• Familiarity with DO-254, MIL-STD-461, or related defense/aerospace standards.

• Some familiarity with common software languages and tools (e.g., C/C++, Python).

• Experience with digital circuit design in a product development environment.
