Job Summary:

Physician is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, treating, and managing patients across a broad range of health conditions. This role involves providing evidence-based medical care, developing treatment plans, promoting preventive health, maintaining accurate medical records, and collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams as appropriate to ensure high-quality patient outcomes. Maintain practice in accordance with applicable laws, ethical standards, organizational policies, and accepted standards of medical care. Adhere to the organizational code of conduct with respect to interactions with other Associates, patients, or the community and with respect to work content and quality.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Call coverage rotation at Mary Washington Hospital and Stafford Hospital

  • Coronary Angiograms and/or Cardiac Catheterization including Left Heart and/or Right Heart Catheterizations

  • Perform TTE (Transthoracic Echocardiogram) and TEE (Transesophageal Echocardiogram)

  • Emergency and Rescue Procedures in the hospital for patients coming in with myocardial infarctions and/or cardiogenic shock: Emergency cardiac catheterizations, pericardiocentesis and/or insertion of mechanical heart pumps such as intra-aortic balloon pumps or other mechanical circulatory support devices

  • Perform diagnostic cardiac catheterizations and coronary angiography.

  • Perform percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), including balloon angioplasty and coronary stent placement.

  • Perform structural heart procedures such as TAVR, MitraClip/TEER, left atrial appendage closure (Watchman), and other transcatheter valve interventions, as credentialed.

  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary Structural Heart Team in patient evaluation and treatment planning.

  • Participate in STEMI call coverage and management of acute cardiovascular emergencies.

  • Provide inpatient and outpatient cardiovascular care.

  • Evaluate patients for advanced cardiovascular therapies and refer as appropriate.

  • Participate in cardiovascular quality initiatives and registry reporting (ACC/NCDR, TVT Registry, etc.).

  • Precept medical students, residents, and fellows as applicable.  

  • Prepare and present didactic materials to support the system’s academic mission as needed or requested.  

  • Participate in selection of residents and/or fellows as applicable. 

  • Provide feedback on resident and/or fellow performance as applicable.

  • Other duties as assigned

Education, Experience and Qualifications

Required:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution. 
  • Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Virginia. 
  • Current, unrestricted DEA license. 
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Interventional Cardiology and General Cardiology. 
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. 
  • Active Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).  
  • Proficiency in PCI
  • Echocardiogram Imaging Certification
  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical principles, clinical practices, and evidence-based treatment guidelines. 
  • Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic reasoning skills. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to build effective therapeutic relationships with patients and families. 
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills. 
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple patient care responsibilities. 
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and healthcare technology. 
  • Commitment to professionalism, patient safety, quality improvement, and continuous learning. 

Preferred:

  •  Transesophageal Echocardiograms
  • Nuclear Imaging certification

Base Salary Range:

  • $575,000 (min) - $600,000 (max)
