Job DetailsJob Location: PMC-Fredericksburg Corps - Fredericksburg, VA 22401Job Category: Social ServicesSchedule/Hours: Part - time  (20 or more hours per week)  This position is responsible for:  Provides social service assistance to eligible clients in the following areas: food, lodging, clothing, and financial assistance; interviews clients to determine need and eligibility to receive services; prepares accurate and complete client records; refers clients to community agencies and maintains effective working relationships with the same; ensures compliance with program policies and procedures.  Key Responsibilities:  Greets and interviews clients requesting assistance to determine client's eligibility for assistance based on program guidelines and restrictions.  Records clients disposition and other pertinent information such as: income, expenses, family and work history; assists clients in completing applications for assistance; and photocopies social security cards, picture identification cards, payroll statements, utility bills etc.  Prepares, completes, and processes food, clothing, and furniture vouchers for eligible clients; and directs clients to the Lodge kitchen, Thrift Store or Distribution Center for assistance.  Serves as liaison to other agencies in order to obtain/coordinate assistance on client's behalf; builds and maintains professional working relationships with community agencies.  Prepares and files client records in a timely manner ensuring all information is accurate and up-to-date; obtains signatures of clients as needed; reviews and tracks all client records in order to determine if client is active or inactive; maintains confidentiality of client information.   Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:  Work requires frequent speaking, listening, typing, and viewing/looking at computer screens for long periods of time.  Must be able to stand, sit, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb. Requires the frequent lifting or moving of items over 25 pounds, the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.  Work is performed in a combination of office and field settings. Frequently required to sit and reach; and must be able to move around the work environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work may require performance of duties where exposure to communicable and infectious diseases are possible. Must be able to work with individuals with physical or mental challenges.
