Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Tribal Administrator, the Coordinator will supervise Summer Youth Job Placement Program participants.  This position will work closely with the Human Resource Director and Program Directors to ensure the program meets its goals and standards of assisting the youth obtain job skills, knowledge, and goals that will lead to self-sufficiency.


Duties & Responsibilities:

The success of today’s youth is dependent on learning an expanded set of skills that goes beyond the traditional skills learned in school.  Preparing tribal youth with the necessary skills to enter the workforce is a priority of the Kaibab Band of Paiute Indians.  Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist Human Resources with the initial intake forms and application/interview processes.
  • Assist Education Director with job placement and schedule of each youth. Assist with educational components of program as needed.
  • Directly supervise the youth in the program, ages 14 to 18.
  • Make sure that youth work on and meet their goals as listed on the Individual Self Sufficiency Plan (ISP) and have them all completed by the end of summer/program.
  • Inform youth, parents, and others of upcoming events, concerns, and progress.
  • Make sure youth attend all training and education workshops.
  • Coordinate with department directors and agencies to ensure the youth have a positive work experience.
  • Provide weekly, monthly and annual reports to supervisors regarding youth progress and issues.

All other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and other Characteristics:

  • Must have great computer skills.
  • Work well with teens, have social skills and work habits benefiting a public oriented position.



Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be self-motivated, communicate effectively, and a great work ethic.
  • Must pass a fingerprint and criminal background check according to P.L. 101-630 standards.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record and be insurable.
