Position Purpose:

Position is responsible for assisting the Forger Operator in the forge operation

Essential Functions:

• Transfers parts to and from workstations, such as furnace, forge press, and trim press, using tongs;
• Clean dies with compressed air and lubricate dies during forging operations. As required, mix lubricant as instructed;
• Removes scale from parts and dies, using wire brush;
• Positions and turns parts during forging;
• Assist the Forge Operator to set dies in forge press, align dies, position and secure clamps and bolts; oil and grease die parts;
• Assist Forge Operator in making adjustments and minor repairs, tighten bolts and clamps, and perform any related duties to assist Forge Operator;
• Inspect parts as they come off the press;

• Maintain daily timekeeping, production, and interventions on computer systems;

• Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition;
• Follow verbal/written instructions given by Supervisor;

• Actively participate in efforts to establish and promote a safe and healthy work environment;
• Follow policies, programs, and procedures for the reduction and elimination of industrial accidents and provide quality feedback to promote safer work behaviors and conditions.

Education and Training:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• No experience needed

• Reporting to work for assigned shift, maintaining a physical presence and performing assigned work for the duration of assigned shift is required;
• Ability to work in a variety of environments which may include exposure to extreme heat, humidity, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, loud noise, and all weather conditions

Environmental Conditions:

• High Temperatures: Frequently exposed to extreme heat from the forging process, necessitating proper heat-resistant gear.
• Noise Levels: Typically works in a loud environment due to machinery and equipment, requiring the use of hearing protection.
• Dust and Fumes: May encounter metal dust, particulates, and fumes from the forging process, making adequate ventilation essential.
• Physical Space: Works in a potentially cramped or busy area, requiring good spatial awareness to navigate safely around machinery and other workers.
• Safety Hazards: Regularly exposed to hazards from heavy machinery, hot materials, and moving parts, necessitating strict adherence to safety protocols.
• Protective Equipment: Requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, helmets, and flame-resistant clothing.
• Lighting Conditions: Adequate lighting is crucial for visibility and safety, especially when handling hot or heavy materials.
• Surface Conditions: Floors may be uneven or slippery due to oils and water, requiring caution and proper footwear.
• Physical Stamina: The job often involves physical labor, such as lifting and moving heavy objects, requiring good physical fitness.
• Team Environment: Works closely with other team members, necessitating effective communication and teamwork in a potentially chaotic setting.

Pay & Benefits

Rate: In accordance with applicable pay transparency laws, the hourly payrate for this position is $19.00-24.00.  This payrate is provided to ensure transparency and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
