ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESÂ Â Â
Services various equipment and apparatus including but not limited to patient monitors, electrocardiographs, blood gas analyzers, x-ray units, defibrillators, electrosurgical units, anesthesia apparatus, pacemakers, blood pressure transducers, spirometers, sterilizers, diathermy equipment and other related technical paraphernalia. Â
Specializes in high-end equipment maintenance as assigned; I.E. Life support equipment Â
Safety tests medical equipment to ensure patient and staff safety from electrical or mechanical hazards. Â
Consults with medical or research staff to ascertain that equipment functions properly and safely. Â
Acts as a resource for partners and provides support and assistance when needed. Â
Demonstrates proficiency in entering, completing, retrieving information regarding work orders, assets, PM schedules, and other functions and applications of the CMMS database as pertains to daily operation of the department. Â
Modifies or develops instruments or devices, as assigned. Â
Works independently with minimal supervision, prioritize workload, and maintain the highest possible levels of quality and customer satisfaction. Â
Works collectively with salesperson or service technician or equipment manufacturers or their sales representatives to assure proper operation of equipment. Â
Participates in managing inventories and operational budget, taking emergency call and helping with special events. Â
May be required to work flexible hours, alternate shifts and weekends. Â
May require travel with personal or company vehicle. Â
May be assigned to any of Mercyhealth locations.Â

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEÂ Â Â
Associate Degree in Bio-Medical Engineering/Electronics or related or related Military equivalent certifications required.Â
Minimum of 3 years of experience in an environment that pertains to installing, maintaining and repairing medical, electronic and/or mechanical equipment; with at least 1 year Radiology, X-ray, Lab, OR, Dialysis, Anesthesia, Prosthetics or other specialized healthcare equipment experience that can be documented with coursework and/or certification from vendor.Â

CERTIFICATION/LICENSUREÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
Certification as a Bio-Medical Technician by AAMI, CRES or CLES preferred.Â
Maintain a valid driver's licenseÂ
Have and maintain driving record per Mercy’s HR-01 Fleet Safety policyÂ

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIESÂ
Ability to understand and apply knowledge in technical manual, interpretive/analytical skillsÂ
Ability to prioritize workloadÂ
Good interpersonal/communication skillsÂ
Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management System; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.  Â
