Role Overview

This position serves as the strategic technical owner for end-to-end battery pack design, development, validation, and manufacturing. The role integrates system architecture, requirements engineering, customer engagement, and program management into a single leadership function. The individual will drive cross-functional alignment across internal cell development, product design, validation engineering, quality, and external pack-house partners to ensure seamless delivery of high-performance, manufacturable, and reliable battery solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end battery pack system architecture, defining electrical, mechanical, thermal, firmware/BMS, and safety elements with a balanced approach to performance, cost, manufacturability, and reliability.

  • Lead the full requirements management lifecycle, translating customer needs into clear, traceable system and component-level specifications while ensuring alignment across internal engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams.

  • Serve as the primary technical interface to the customer, conducting design reviews, requirement negotiations, risk assessments, and solution recommendations with clarity and executive presence.

  • Drive holistic program execution from concept through mass production, developing integrated schedules, managing cross-functional deliverables, and ensuring alignment with business, technical, and operational objectives.

  • Coordinate closely with internal cell development and fabrication teams, ensuring pack-level design assumptions align with cell performance characteristics, safety thresholds, and readiness for manufacturing.

  • Provide technical leadership and oversight to pack-house subcontractors, reviewing DFM/DFA outputs, process flows, tooling proposals, and test plans to ensure manufacturing capability and quality standards are met.

  • Lead system-level verification and validation planning, ensuring all electrical, mechanical, thermal, safety, and regulatory requirements are fully tested and documented for certification and customer release.

  • Champion cross-functional risk mitigation, driving structured problem-solving, root-cause analysis, and resolution of design, manufacturing, or supply-chain risks throughout the program lifecycle.

  • Support production launch and scaling, partnering with manufacturing engineering, operations, and quality to validate process readiness, stabilize early builds, and ensure robust, high-yield mass production.

  • Maintain technical governance and documentation, including system FMEA, architecture documentation, requirement traceability, validation evidence, and change management control.

  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation, monitoring emerging technologies, materials, and design methodologies to enhance product reliability, manufacturability, and competitive positioning.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.

  • 8+ years of experience in battery pack development, system engineering, or cross-functional program leadership.

  • Strong technical foundation in Li-ion cell behavior, BMS functionality, thermal management, and safety architectures.

  • Proven track record managing customer programs in high-tech or energy storage environments.

  • Experience working with overseas manufacturing partners and contract pack assemblers.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Core Competencies

  • Systems thinking and architecture leadership

  • Requirements management and structured engineering rigor

  • Customer interface excellence and executive communication

  • Cross-functional problem-solving

  • Technical program management

  • Risk assessment and mitigation

  • Manufacturing readiness and quality mindset
