Job Summary
The Manufacturing Electrical Engineer II designs, develops and maintains manufacturing processes, electrical test systems and production support solutions for new products and product changes. Drives cost reduction and waste elimination across supply, assembly and test. Supports Manufacturing by resolving production issues, troubleshooting electrical and electromechanical systems down to the board level, dispositioning nonconforming material and supporting continuous improvement activities with Product Development to ensure manufacturability and testability of new products and achieve cost targets through lean methods. Supports resolution of product complaints, CAPA activities and safety issues while providing sustaining engineering support for released products.
Responsibilities:
- Liaise with R&D, production, supply chain and quality to keep production rates, product designs and manufacturing test strategies aligned with business needs and available manufacturing resources.
- Support new products through pilot production and sustained launch activities, identify, escalate and help resolve manufacturability and testability issues.
- Design, document, validate, and introduce production, service assembly, test fixtures, electrical test systems, automated test equipment, and supporting equipment.
- Configure assembly processes, activity sequence and material handling for lean manufacturing. Develop and optimize manufacturing test processes and data collection methods.
- Support supplier and vendor qualification activities for manufacturing processes, tooling fixtures and test equipment as required.
- Run tests, using new or existing protocols, to confirm process capability and manufacturing test effectiveness.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and timely manufacturing documentation: including assembly procedures, testing methods, electrical test specifications, troubleshooting guides, packaging instructions, labeling instructions, and bill of materials.
- Develop test plans covering material acquisition, substitution problems, and shipment-impacting technical issues. Develop and validate functional, system-level and end-of-line electrical test methods.
- Support manufacturing planning activities including BOM structure, methods, sequence of operations, shop routing, time standards, tooling and electrical test requirements.
- Continually reduce product cost through design, process, procedure and test improvements while improving efficiency through lean manufacturing methods.
- Optimize manufacturing costs, determine time standards and recommend tooling and process requirements for new or existing product lines.
- Work with production managers and engineers to support product enhancements from concept through finished product. Participate in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT) activities.
- Participate in material review board activities to analyze and disposition non-conforming materials and assemblies, including electrical and electromechanical components.
- Participate in cost reduction, capacity enhancement, and manufacturing test improvement initiatives.
- Provide sustaining engineering support to production. Train and support production staff -including Assemblers, Quality Control Inspectors, Leads and Supervisors. Support electrical troubleshooting and manufacturing test systems used in production.
- Perform failure analysis and implement corrective actions to improve production and quality. Troubleshoot electrical, electronic and electromechanical assemblies to root cause.
- Support CAPA investigations, ECO implementation and component obsolescence management for released products.
- Support electrical troubleshooting of PCBAs, wiring harnesses, embedded control systems, motors, sensors, communications interfaces and other electromechanical assemblies used in production.
- Develop, maintain and support manufacturing test systems using industry-standard electrical design and software tools. Collaborate with R&D to review schematics, PCB layouts and firmware requirements, and support validation activities.
- Ensure manufacturing test systems, fixtures and production processes meet ESD control requirements and applicable electrical safety standards where relevant to the product line.
- Recommend and report on production process improvements: including efficiency, cycle time, downtime, first pass yield, resource utilization, test coverage, test throughput; and ergonomics.
- Participate in company safety committee and environmental programs as required.
- Provide technical guidance and training within area of expertise.
- Work independently: to analyze problems, formulate solutions and implement corrective actions using sound engineering judgment and structured problem-solving methods.
- Contribute ideas and action that support continuous improvement across the Manufacturing Department

Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology. Mechatronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related engineering discipline and 2-5 years of relevant experience.
- Thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials and manufacturing test methods.
- Demonstrated electromechanical, electrical, and process engineering capability.
- Strong technical skills in prototyping and troubleshooting using engineering documentation, schematics, wiring diagrams and test procedures.
- Familiar with IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 workmanship standards for electronic assemblies.
- Working knowledge and experience writing protocols, developing and executing test plans, running tests, analyzing results and documenting results.
- Experience supporting production of electrical and electromechanical assemblies, including PCBAs, wiring harnesses, sensors, motors, power supplies and embedded control systems.
- Working knowledge of electrical circuit fundamentals including analog, digital and power electronics.
- Experience developing, supporting or troubleshooting manufacturing test systems, fixtures and automated test equipment preferred.
- Familiar with a 3D solid modeling package, preferably SolidWorks, Solid Edge or AutoCAD.
- Familiar with electrical CAD tools, preferably Altium Designer, OrCAD, or equivalent schematic capture software.
- Experience with electrical diagnostic equipment including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, logic analyzers, signal generators and power analyzers preferred.
- Experience with calibration and metrology practices for test and measurement equipment preferred.
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT) principles.
- Familiar with manufacturing test software and automation tools including LabVIEW and/or NI TestStand preferred.
- Programming or scripting experience for test automation and data analysis; Python experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts preferred.
- Experience in a medical device manufacturing environment preferred, including FDA-regulated products and manufacturing processes.
- Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office 365
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively ]communicate technical to cross-functional teams.
- Able to write procedures technical reports, validation documentation, test methods and engineering analyses.
- Able to work independently and effectively within a cross-functional teams
- Strong internal and external customer focus with a high sense of urgency.

Salary range: $102,000 - $126,000 DOE + annual potential bonus + comprehensive benefits package
