Opportunity

PsyPhyCare, a division of Business Staffing of America, Inc., is seeking a Recreational Aide to provide on-site recreational programming and student engagement services within a federally supported residential program n Frenchburg, Kentucky 40322.

Our client operates a comprehensive residential training program serving young adults ages 16–24. The program's mission is to prepare students for meaningful employment, continued education, military service, and independent living through academic instruction, career technical training, counseling, healthcare, and structured recreational activities.

This role supports the planning, coordination, and supervision of recreational, cultural, athletic, and leisure activities that promote student wellness, teamwork, leadership, and personal development. The Recreational Aide helps create a safe, structured, and engaging residential environment while encouraging positive student participation in center life.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing recreational, cultural, athletic, and leisure-time activities for students.
  • Supervise recreational programs, intramural sports, fitness activities, clubs, tournaments, and special events.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive environment that promotes teamwork, leadership, and healthy lifestyles.
  • Encourage student participation in recreational and wellness programs designed to enhance personal growth and social development.
  • Monitor recreational facilities and equipment to ensure cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness.
  • Report damaged equipment, maintenance concerns, and safety hazards promptly.
  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating recreational facilities and activities.
  • Promote good sportsmanship, conflict resolution, and respectful behavior during all activities.
  • Maintain attendance records, activity logs, incident reports, and other required documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Job Corps, USDA Forest Service, and Center policies regarding student conduct and safety.
  • Assist during campus-wide events, student orientation activities, and special programs.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow established safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with instructors, counselors, residential advisors, and other Center staff to support student success.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support Center operations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One (1) year of experience working with youth or young adults in recreation, athletics, physical education, residential programs, camps, schools, or community programs preferred.
  • Knowledge of recreational programming, sports, fitness activities, and youth development principles.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate and engage diverse student populations.
  • Ability to supervise group activities while maintaining a safe environment.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic recordkeeping.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred or ability to obtain if required by the Center.
  • Must successfully pass all required background investigations and federal security requirements before beginning work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a residential education, youth development, recreation, or outdoor education program.
  • Experience organizing athletic leagues, recreational events, or wellness initiatives.
  • Knowledge of conflict resolution and behavior management techniques.

Work Schedule

  • Part-time
  • Approximately 20 hours per week.
  • Schedule may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events based on the operational needs of the facility.
