ABOUT EYE-Q

We are a fast-paced, highly complex practice and offer several specialty services to our patients. Our team of ophthalmologists, optometrists, and professional support staff handle all aspects of eye/vision care, from general exams to complex surgeries. We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic, energetic, and passionate about providing excellent care to our patients while treating fellow coworkers with dignity and respect.


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Examines the vision and ocular pathways of patients of all ages for vision errors/disorders, ocular diseases, ocular trauma/infections, and systemic ocular complications 
  • Monitors ocular health for systemic conditions 
  • Communicates with patients to get detailed case histories 
  • Uses ophthalmic equipment for diagnostic testing and subjective and objective interpretation
  • Performs refractions for eyeglasses, contact lenses, or specialty lens prescriptions 
  • Manages fitting, ordering, and dispensing of eyeglass and contact lens prescriptions 
  • Provides advice, reassurance, and patient care on vision-related matters 
  • Makes proper and prompt referrals and provides adequate documentation as needed 
  • Directs dispensing opticians and clerical staff

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of ocular disease processes and treatments
  • Knowledge of prescribing and fitting glasses/contact lenses
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic equipment needed to conduct examinations
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of patient personalities
  • Ability to work in a high-volume optical setting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A strong sense of workplace professionalism and personal ethics

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree 
  • Valid state license to practice optometry 
  • 1-2 years related experience and/or training (preferred)
  • Ocular disease management experience (preferred) 
  • Optical experience with prescribing and fitting glasses and contact lenses (preferred)
