FLSA Type: Non-exempt - Full-time (benefit eligible)

Department: Hospital Services

Reports to: Component Manufacturing Manager

Workdays/Hours: Tuesday through Thursday: 2:00 - 10:30 pm & Friday through Saturday: 11:00 am - 7:30 pm

Pay: $18/hour

Work modality: On-site


Job Summary

The Component Manufacturing Technician I plays a critical role in transforming donated blood into safe, lifesaving blood components. Working with blood collected from generous donors, this position carefully processes, separates, prepares, and labels components for patient use while maintaining strict quality, safety, and regulatory standards. Through precision, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality, the Component Manufacturing Technician helps ensure that every donation can have the greatest possible impact on patients in need.


Essential Functions

  • Component preparation and processing, including quality control and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs)
  • Boxing plasma and other components for fractionator and other services.
  • Manufacturing Pooled Cryo.
  • Troubleshoot problems associated with component processing and the associated equipment. Contribute to the review and update of component SOPs, training forms and records, and component worksheets and forms.
  • Demonstrates alignment with and adherence to the company’s core values in all interactions, decisions, and work activities; serves as a role model for fostering a positive, respectful, and ethical workplace culture.
  • Employees in this role are entitled and expected to take compliant meal and rest periods in accordance with California law.
  • This position requires consistent, on-time attendance in accordance with company policy. Excessive tardiness or absenteeism may impact performance and employment status.
  • Follow all SOPs, COPs, safety guidelines, quality systems, and regulatory requirements governing blood collection and donor/patient care.
  • Participate in required training and competency assessments. 
  • Support CCBC’s mission, core values, and workplace culture while maintaining reliable attendance and compliance with California meal and rest period requirements.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED, required 
  • Attention to detail and maintaining quality outcomes

Skills and Abilities

  • Basic computer experience is required.
  • Effective communication and customer interaction skills
  • Ability to follow established procedures consistently and maintain documentation with care
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in a regulated production environment
  • Ability to balance steady execution with timely completion of daily processing requirements
  • Comfort working independently on focused, hands-on tasks with limited need for frequent social interaction
