Job Summary
We are seeking a Substance Use Disorder Counselor to join our team! As a Substance Use Disorder Counselor on the team, you will be handling a manageable caseload of patients looking to you for treatment and help to overcome a wide variety of addiction issues. Your role will be to support and uplift your clients, offering resources and support for them, creating and implementing treatment options, and identifying core issues that could be contributing to their abuse. The ideal candidate is compassionate, has excellent communication skills, and has experience working with people struggling with addiction and abuse. 

Responsibilities 
  • Meet with clients to assess their substance issues and identify recovery interference situations
  • Write treatment and recovery plans
  • Educate clients on coping mechanisms
  • Conduct group therapy session for patients
  • Lead outreach addiction education programs and develop support groups for patients
  • Track and analyze patient recovery progression 
  • Update the legal system about patient’s progress
  • Help clients plan for discharge from facilities
  • Communicate with clients and family members
  • Identify recovery interference situations 
  • Develop patient crisis management plan and intervene during emergency situations
  • Work with clients to find or maintain employment
  • Comply with HIPPA (CFR 42, part 2)
  • Additional Duties as Needed
Qualifications
  • Licensure with the state desired
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong compassionate outlook, with an upbeat and positive personality
  • Experience working with substance abuse desired
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Provide services at both locations
  • Standing for up to 15-20%
  • Must be able to lift up to 30-50 pounds occasionally
