The City of Friendswood is currently accepting applications for a Part-Time Lake Friendswood Attendant in the Parks & Recreation Department. This position Performs routine maintenance, cleaning, inspection, and upkeep of Lake Friendswood Park, including park buildings, grounds, facilities, equipment, and structures. The scheduled work hours will primarily be Saturday and Sundays from sunrise to sunset.

 

.Work Performed:

  • Assists with the maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep of Lake Friendswood Park facilities.
  • Performs routine grounds maintenance, including emptying trash receptacles, cleaning restrooms, and picking up litter and other debris.
  • Operates Parks utility vehicles, equipment, and other vehicles to perform maintenance duties.
  • Inspects Park buildings, facilities, equipment, and other structures for cleanliness, damage, maintenance needs, and potential safety concerns.
  • Performs daily inspections and cleaning of facilities, equipment, and grounds.
  • Performs simple plumbing repairs, such as unclogging plumbing fixtures.
  • Documents daily work activities and maintain records of janitorial supply inventory.
  • Enforce Parks and Recreation rules and regulations and communicates with park patrons regarding applicable rules when necessary.
  • Apply over-the-counter insecticides to designated areas as needed and in accordance with applicable instructions and procedures.
  • Performs other duties within the areas of responsibility and ability, as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • 6 months' experience
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • First Aid and CPR certification within six months of employment. The City will provide the required training.

 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge in the use and care of janitorial equipment
  • Basic knowledge in the operation of a motor vehicle (with and without a trailer in tow)
  • Basic knowledge of landscaping tools and maintenance equipment (including power tools and basic hand tools)
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, simple carpentry and knowledge of set up and assembly.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Primarily works outside, so employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions, noise, fertilizer, and insect sprays.
  • Physical demands are heavy and may include lifting, standing, walking, and bending.

 

Position may require 24-hour availability during emergency conditions
