Job Summary

The Dairy Supervisor is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Dairy Department by ensuring product availability, inventory accuracy, merchandising excellence, and exceptional customer service. This position supervises department associates, maintains product quality and freshness standards, and supports efforts to drive sales while controlling shrink and expenses. The Dairy Supervisor works closely with store leadership to ensure a well-stocked, organized, and customer-focused department.

Key Responsibilities Department Operations
  • Oversee daily Dairy Department activities and workflow.
  • Ensure dairy cases and displays are fully stocked, clean, organized, and properly merchandised.
  • Monitor product freshness, quality, and rotation to maintain department standards.
  • Support implementation of merchandising plans, promotional programs, and seasonal displays.
  • Maintain department cleanliness and operational readiness throughout the day.
Customer Service
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and create a positive shopping experience.
  • Assist customers with product selection, product information, and special requests.
  • Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Promote a customer-focused culture among department associates.
Inventory & Merchandising
  • Assist with ordering, receiving, stocking, and inventory management.
  • Monitor inventory levels and sales trends to support proper replenishment.
  • Ensure accurate pricing, signage, and promotional execution.
  • Maintain proper product rotation using first-in, first-out (FIFO) practices.
  • Help minimize shrink, spoilage, and out-of-stock conditions.
Food Safety & Compliance
  • Maintain proper refrigeration temperatures and product integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and company standards.
  • Monitor product dating, storage, and handling procedures.
  • Support department readiness for inspections, audits, and operational reviews.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Supervise and support dairy department associates.
  • Train, coach, and develop team members on department standards and procedures.
  • Assign daily tasks and monitor completion of responsibilities.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
  • Provide performance feedback and assist with associate development.
Financial Performance
  • Support achievement of department sales and profitability goals.
  • Monitor labor productivity and department efficiency.
  • Assist in controlling shrink, waste, and operating expenses.
  • Identify opportunities to improve sales, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous grocery, dairy, retail, or merchandising experience preferred.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising principles.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift throughout scheduled shifts.
  • Frequently lift and carry products weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in refrigerated environments for extended periods.
  • Ability to push and pull loaded carts, pallets, and stocking equipment safely.
