Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Performs interventions in accordance with standards set by profession’s national association, scope of practice and hospital policies and guidelines. Works with therapy providers and Bridge Coordinator to develop guidelines and protocols for performance improvement in these areas across the department.
  • Effective at communicating with and coaching children, both healthy and coming off an injury, with age-specific training guidelines in accordance with Balyi’s definition of Long-Term Athletic Development.
  • Cares for the bridge and/or therapy athlete with beneficence, but also progresses the bridge athlete with autonomy in accordance with the state board bylaws and Bridge Program guidelines.
  • Provides age-appropriate and family-centered care in accordance with current evidence and practice standards, provider’s prescription and protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Completes documentation per departmental policy and seeks opportunities to improve performance in the department to optimize processes.
  • Collaborates with therapy and medical providers, athletes/families, hospital staff members, and other professionals to meet individual athlete goals and improve processes, relationships, and outcomes for a larger population with effective verbal and written communication.
  • Seeks and implements opportunities to participate in formal and informal education of new employees, students, volunteers, and members of same and other disciplines.
  • Seeks opportunities and participates in professional development activities and shares knowledge with other staff members and external audiences through formal and informal educational opportunities.
  • Participates in marketing initiatives, performance improvement processes, and outcome studies to promote the activities of the department and profession within and outside the organization.
  • Participation in community activities, programs that benefit patients or programs that encourage wellness for our staff and the community.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from National Strength and Conditioning Association.
  • Certification in BLS.
  • Preferred 1 or more years of experience in college strength and conditioning programs.
  • Preferred PES, USAW certification.
  • Preferred professional degree or education.
  • Preferred FMS, Y-Balance Test, and FCS certifications.

  • Physical Requirements: lifting/carrying, pushing/pulling, crawling, repetitive movement, stooping/kneeling/bending, climbing, balancing.
  • An Individual in this position will be required to lift or carry weight in this group: 75-100 lbs.
  • Sensory/Communicative activities essential to the performance of this position: feeling, hearing, seeing, speaking.
  • An Individual in this position will be exposed to: inside/outside environment, bloodborne pathogens, loud noise, chemical hazards, respiratory hazards.
