Senior Automotive & Diesel Diagnostic Technician

Job Summary
The Senior Automotive & Diesel Diagnostic Technician serves as one of the shop's highest-level technical resources. This individual diagnoses and repairs the industry's most challenging gasoline and diesel concerns while mentoring fellow technicians and helping improve shop processes.


Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain the company's standards of moral, ethical, and legal business practices. Present yourself in an orderly, professional manner as outlined in the employee handbook. Develop positive employee, customer, and community relationships. Attend all required meetings and training. Read, comprehend, and follow company policies and Standard Operating Procedures. Perform digital vehicle inspections, diagnosis, and repairs appropriate to current skill level while continually expanding diagnostic capabilities. Work alongside senior technicians to develop advanced electrical, drivability, engine performance, and diesel diagnostic skills. Collaborate with service advisors to inspect and repair vehicles in order of priority. Meet customer repair deadlines and honor commitments. Verify parts early to minimize delays. Treat customer vehicles with cleanliness and care. Assist fellow technicians with diagnosis and repairs. Maintain a clean, organized work area. Support facility maintenance and shop equipment upkeep. Arrive on time and work efficiently throughout the shift. Progress toward ASE Master Certification. Diagnose advanced electrical, network communication, drivability, and diesel concerns. Mentor technicians by assisting with diagnostic strategies and repair planning. Improve diagnostic processes, shop efficiency, and technical standards. Promote accurate documentation and consistent diagnostic procedures. Lead by example through professionalism, efficiency, and workmanship.

Performance Expectations
Maintain or exceed 100% proficiency. Average 10 billed hours per day while handling complex diagnostic work. Maintain exceptional first-time fix and comeback performance. Balance production with mentorship and technical leadership responsibilities.

Required Skills & Abilities
Expert knowledge of modern gasoline and diesel systems. Advanced electrical and CAN network diagnostics. Engine performance and emissions diagnostics. Oscilloscope proficiency preferred. Programming/module replacement experience preferred. Excellent communication and mentoring ability.

Necessary Education & Experience
Valid Driver's License. ASE Master Technician preferred.L1 Certification preferred. 8+ years diagnostic experience preferred. Extensive gasoline and diesel diagnostic experience. Commitment to ongoing technical education.
