Responsibilities

 

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Junior Planner in our Fullerton, California location. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California.  We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we’re the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines. Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.

We are currently seeing highly motivated, energetic, entry level or experienced individuals to join our team as a Junior Planner. This is an opportunity to grow your career at a large, international aerospace company.   

Summary: Assists with the planning and implementation of the production schedule for the various product lines.  Purchase necessary raw materials and supplies to meet production requirements.  Coordinate multiple activities to assure on-time delivery, production and inventory goals are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist Planner 1, II, III or Master Planner to schedule orders to assure customer needs are met.  
  • Release work orders to assigned production cells or focus factory as required to meet organizational objectives.
  • Forecast raw material and tooling consumption for assigned production cells or focus factory.
  • Coordinate supplier's delivery schedules to meet production needs.
  • Monitor resource requirements to assure schedule requirements are met.
  • Assist in monitoring minimum inventory to support the production schedule.  Work with Planner II, III or Master Planner or operations staff.
  • Interact with other departments (Shipping, Engineering, Quality) to resolve problems with timely delivery and assist with disposition of rejection notices.
  • May assist production to resolve problems relevant to wire receipt, raw material quality, quantity verification, cost allocation and wire issuance.
  • Review machine capacity

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, and proficiency in Excel 
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ERP, QAD, COP, systems experience is a plus
  • 1 - 2 years of experience in Planning capacity

  • Need to be able to wear safety steel toe shoes and walk around at shop floor environment as needed.
