This is a part-time (20 hours/week), position with expected hours to be worked during business hours of Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional hours may be available during spring, fall, or summer breaks at the need of the department and/or program.

Job Summary:

Under direct supervision, the Clerical Assistant will provide administrative support to the Director of Student Government, Office Coordinator, and Executive Officers. The ASI Executive Offices are responsible for supporting the programs and activities of student government, including the Board of Directors and Student Government staff. Responsibilities include the preparation and distribution of agendas, supporting multiple advocacy and communications commissions, and performing various clerical and programmatic support functions as needed.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating meetings and events.
  • Assist with administering department programs.
  • Prepare and process forms and paperwork.
  • Initiate, coordinate and process orders.
  • Assist with making travel arrangements.
  • Assist with general research related to department and specific programs.
  • Ensure customer service is conducted in a courteous and professional manner with students, visitors, and all other employees.
  • Basic clerical duties including answering telephones, taking and relaying messages, scheduling meetings, distributing mail, processing inquiries.
  • Type memorandums, correspondence and reports.
  • Assist in maintaining filing system and online databases.
  • Assist in maintaining storage space.
  • Other duties as assigned

Customer Service & Collaboration:

  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with various A.S. and University departments

Safety:

  • Ensures all operations are conducted with safety of staff and customers as first priority, and in accordance with the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan and other safety policies.
  • Reports accidents to supervisor and reviews changes required to avoid reoccurrence.
  • Reports maintenance problems and/or broken and unsafe equipment to the appropriate party or supervisor immediately

Requirements:

  • Must be a currently enrolled California State University Fullerton student in good academic standing

    • CSU’S Discrimination Harassment Prevention Program
    • Data Security and FERPA
    • Gender Equity and Title IX
    • Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP)

Work Environment:

  • General office environment
  • Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking around campus.
  • The working environment is generally favorable
  • Lighting and temperature are adequate
  • There are no hazardous or unpleasant work conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
  • Work is generally performed in an office environment, with standard office equipment available
